I am in total awe as I experience a group of senior women vying for the title of Ms. Senior Jacksonville. I am inspired by their passion, their truth, and their love for an continuance to learn and grow. I am reminded how easy it is to forget that life passes so fast - so live it to your fullest, cherish it like it is your last, and create opportunities that can last for eternity.Over the last few months, I have found the 2015 Ms. Senior Jacksonville contestants AMAZING in their own little ways. The spirit of aging is not something that people tend to embrace, but within this group of senior women; who are helping dispel the myths of aging, I am compelled and reminded how much of an asset, a true treasure our seniors really are. #seniorsrock!

![]() Well, our SENSATION SIX contestants are ready to put on a great production. I am so proud of them and thankful that they trusted us to help them have a little more fun and bring sass and excitement to their life. I admire these ladies for their spunk, class, and most of all courage. I only hope and pray that when I reach their age, I would be as wise and spunky as each of them. Hats off to our SENSATIONAL SIX! You probably will not believe this tidbit, but while reading an article a few days ago, I learned that 2.5 million women, not babies and girls, but WOMEN participate or should I say compete in pageants annually. Wow! That's a lot of women. This article really made me realize how valuable pageants are. I admit... I did not always feel like that and honestly, I used to one of those women who really did not understand WHY someone would do a pageant not to mention go from one pageant to another year after year and in some cases, do several in a year's time.
Since I have been directing pageants for the past 6 years, I have grown to see the value; confidence boosting, love of self enhancer, a opportunity to meet new people, have fun, do something different, and especially for mature women pageants, it allows our contestants to dispel the myths of aging. It educates our audience on the spunk, talent, and all the gifts seniors still bring to our communities. It truly gives them a ego boost from out of this world... Thinking back, I remember my first few years in the pageant industry, people would sarcastically ask if our seniors would be wearing swimsuits. At first, I would be somewhat offended, but later I understood this an an opportunity to educate and empower; educate the person that believes all seniors have wrinkly, frail, old bodies and empower those seniors who need permission to strut their stuff. I see senior women everyday that are reinventing what a senior is today and I thank God for choosing me to live out this vision by creating pageants for senior women! |
