Get to Know Jacqueline Luciano
Jacqueline Luciano is proud of her culturally diverse background, which stems from a blend of European, African, and Native American ancestry. This cultural blend has given Jacqueline, Ms. Senior Jacksonville 2024, a particular affinity for inclusivity. During her reign, Jacqueline will use her “Inclusivity” platform to help others develop or enhance an appreciation for diversity, equality and equity. Born in Puerto Rico, Jacqueline’s passion for dance became evident when, as a young girl, she danced the merengue. That passion intensified throughout Jacqueline’s teen years and adulthood. Since retiring from paid employment, Jacqueline dedicates much of her time to developing her ballroom dancing skills and on preparing her body and mind for weekly hours of grueling dance lessons. Prior to retirement, Jacqueline had a 45-year career in the field of Information Technology, in which she held leadership roles in functions like Application, Design & Development; Database Design, and System and Network Management. In addition, Jacqueline was extremely active in and was a leader in many professional organizations, including the Association of Women in Computing (Greater Boston Chapter), the Project Management Institute (Ocean State Chapter), and the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals. Jacqueline also participated in a number of employer-sponsored diversity affinity groups. Jacqueline was widowed in 2021 when her husband passed from the COVID 19 virus. She has an adult son, Jesse, from a previous marriage, and she has three non-biological granddaughters. Jacqueline loves rhinestones and adds them to dance costumes, clothing, handbags, and anything else that needs pizazz. Jacqueline also crafts jewelry from natural stones. Jacqueline’s life experiences, talents and interests are as diverse as her heritage! |
